Stumbling
Good Morning Buddies
Not proud or happy to admit that I’ve been stumbling.
Wish I could say everything was great and I was staying on plan and feeling good about it but I can’t.
During the day I am doing awesome – exercising and eating really well and drinking lots of water.
But it’s the evenings that are killing me.
The last few nights I can’t seem to stop eating, snacking. Not just having one snack either.
I know it’s the worst thing I could do, I know it while I’m doing it, I know it when I’m writing it down in my journal. I KNOW IT.
I know eating at night is the worst thing and with no exercise in the evening either that just spells disaster.
So why do I do it if I know that?
Wish I knew.
So today I once again have my plan in front of me.
My meals planned, my exercise routine planned, all in black and white.
Now I just gotta stick to it.
Tonight I will not eat after dinner.
I wont because I cant. I cant do this to myself.
I wanted to write it down here in hopes of making it happen and seeking support from my strong buddies.
I know that we all have these hard patches for whatever reason.
I also know that they pass cause I’ve had them before but for some reason when you are in the thick of it its hard to really believe that things will turn around and get easier again.
Thanks for listening to me babble
Now I’m going to read some blogs cause that always helps.
Lori

Lori you can do it. I know you can…
Distract yourself someway! Needlework, puzzles, get away from the TV. Dance around the room. ANYTHING! This too shall pass, but it is so hard and just strikes out of the blue. One bite just leads to another. Thinking of you, Marge
No eating after dinner. Promise yourself you are going to stick to it. No excuses. I’m really sorry you are struggling. It is so hard sometimes to just do what we KNOW we have to do. No one is perfect, but when you are going through it, it seems like no one else has ever had to deal with this exact same thing. Lori, we all have. You know that. Stay strong, and you will get through this. Just tonight, follow through. You can do one night. You don’t have to think past this night coming up. Go out for an after dinner stroll around town. Distract yourself from wanting to eat. Pssst. If you don’t watch tv, it helps a bunch! You take care, and keep us posted how it is going, k?
I haven’t read your earlier posts, but it sounds like it hasn’t been like that all the time. You are saying you don’t know why it’s happening these days. I would try to relate it to something, something going on in your life, pms blues, etc., so that when you are past this stretch, you can plan for similar ones in the future, how to work around them.
That’s a hard time for me as well. I agree with Inna to look for stress triggers or physical triggers like pms or yeast. A good probiotic has done wonders for my sugar cravings by keeping the yeast in check. Keep hanging in there!!!!!
You might not be getting enough calories during the day - or might not be spreading them out enough.
Make sure you eat your calories over 5 or 6 sittings. This will help you to not have an insulin spike and might help to regulate your ghrelin (hunger hormones) Make sure you get enough protein and fiber - and that you aren’t just filling up on white carbs.
Also, make sure you are getting all of your vitamins and minerals during the day. If you are missing something, your body will keep crying out for food until you get it.
There are some good books that explain the biochemistry of a diet. One is called,
You
On a Diet.
It might help you understand why you are having the cravings.
Lori:
Sorry you were stuggling. I looked up the old Oprah Boot Camp plan that I printed out several years ago and kept on file. Oprah (the great and powerful O as my husband calls her) says to never eat after 7:00 p.m. It is hard especially if you are a couch potato like me.
Here are my suggestions:
Eat a healthy dinner with enough protein to keep you full.
Make yourself a cup of coffee and sip on it while you watch TV. You don’t have to eat and this will make your brain thing you’re feeding it.
If you can get active, get a second workout in. If you don’t have a treadmill, walk in front of the tv or turn on the stereo and dance.
Anything to keep your mind off the food. If all else fails, go to bed early. Beauty sleep is invaluable!
Hope this helps,
Debbie
Lori, like you said this will pass. It always does. You are a strong person in this weightloss stuff. Sometimes we just have to allow ourselves to go through this and we come through it stroner each time. I wish you the best Lori! Hang in there!
Lori, you and me both! I don’t know why I can’t not snack at night lately ! So hopefully our other bloggers will have some great ideas ! Though I have no advice know that you’re not alone ! Your buddy, Kimmi
hey buddy…just hang in there….i’m sure u can do it….u know we all go thru this phase but tats all it is….a phase!it will pass and the sun will shine again….and u know wt its gonna shine today for u cos i believe u r gonna stick to ur plan…i beleive in u buddy so now u pls believe in urself!God bless!
Lori, I am having nite cravings, too. Hey if I can think of you hanging in there, and you think of me hanging in there, we can beat it!!! I know you can do it!

I have to agree with everything GloryToGod said, so try to check that out.
Something else to consider is the seasonal change… colder weather, maybe being stuck in the house and unable to get outside for a bit, etc. Try to change up your nighttime routine a little and see if that doesn’t help some.
The good news here is… you are working this. You are planning every single day and you are doing great for most of the day. That’s progress. Just keep at it and don’t ever EVER give up.
Huggggggggggggs,
Shan
Lori, I understand the fight with evening munches. These are things that help me to stop eating after dinner:
1. Brush your teeth right after you had dinner.
2. If you still craving snack, get busy. Give yourself a manicure and after you are done with nails, you won’t want to screw it with eating. And imagine your nails getting different colors every evening.
3. Have more protein with your evening meal. It will hold you over until next morning.
4. Drink chamomile tea with a little bit of honey… slowly… enjoying the smell and the taste. It can help with water intake during cold winter nights.
Hey Lori, are you eating enough during the day? If not, maybe this is why the nights are so hard. But, I can tell you that during my weightloss time, there were weeks that went by with no problems and then, bam, out of the blue hunger was stronger than usual. Maybe this is a sign that your body wants and requires more energy (food). Just hang in there. Things can really get better. Just keep your goals focused. And you have some great advice from everyone too. Good luck girl.
Big hugs coming at ya Lori. I too have difficulty at night with the snacking. It will get better for you, your strong determination and positive attitude will get you through it I’m sure. You’ve come so far and I have no doubt you will make it to your goals. Everyone is here for you WE know YOU can do it!!
Lori. You were there for me and I responded and pulled it together. You owe it to yourself and to me and to all of us to take control of the situation and succeed. The question is - how bad do you want this? I am going to be on your case like white on rice. Lets go - back to work - lets get some exericse and work of these indiscretions!!
